GIGGS Lands PFA Award...!!!

COngrats..!!

i m back!!!!!! (i realised this line pops up from my intro very frequently...lol)

jus been through a 16-days journey of self discovery at OBS....very proud to say that it is a specialised professional leadership development course for SPF OCTs only...many hav the idea that this trip will be easy and something like your secondary 3 camps...but to our 'horror'...its something so MUCH MORE....

the 16 days were packed with activities and i m glad to say that i hav completed the course with no regrets and dare say i hav put my utmost efforts in everytin that we attempted...

we were divided into 4 watches namely Eng Soon, Rajaratnam, Dhanabalan and Ghandi...and im in EngSoon...we operated as individual watches for most of the time till the last expedition....

16 days are divided into 3 major phases :

1st phase - Land Expedition (3 days 2 nights)

trekked and hikked and climbed and walked all around ubin to complete our missions...it was like a routemarch packed with sit-test missions...and i swear...im not exaggerating...the weight of the backpack was equivalent to that of army field pack and with addition of jerrycans and our tents...activation at night jus like field camp where we had to shift our campsite...

the high point during this phase is definitely the makeshift 'oasis concert' at OBS Campsite 2...had a hell of a time and we 49th batch OCTs did what we are best at and tt is to party into the night...!

2nd phase - Sailing Expedition (3 days 2 nights)

after the land ex, we had a crash course on how to sail a cutter boat for half a day at base camp and we set off soon enough...this had to be the most memorable experience throughout the 16days for my watch and i...sailing was a first for us and we had no clue how to sail even after the crash course...everyting was learned from experiences on the boat itself after we set sailed...

for eg...the very first day, we experienced a thunderstorm on sea...and the scene was jus like the movie 'perfect storm' everyone was doing something to make sure we anchor in safely and beached up...

Semangat was the name of our cutter...she is a beautiful one and i have to say tt the daily morning routine of swimming around the cutter and kissing her bow had me feeling attached to her...

she did not fail us unlike the other 3 cutters...tt faithful evening where Hamish T broke her rudder and Endeavour's motor was down and drifted all the way to Bedok jetty and lastly, poor Vijaya who breakwater and had 3 major cracks at the hull disabling her from sailing for the last day...

3rd phase - Sea Kayaking Expedition (3 days 2 nights)

this was the last ex for us and we were given the freedom to do our own planning by our elected leaders and we were to complete this expedition as OCTs on the whole....

we kayaked halfway around singapore starting fr:
ubin to changi on the first dae
changi to sembawang to causeway (literally touched it!) and bac to sembawang on the 2nd day....(FARKIN' crazy day where we kayaked aprrox. 41 km and clockin 11 hours of kayakin on the sea...)
sembawang back to ubin on the last day

we were proud of our acheivement on our 2nd day where we exceeded our initial target of jus sembawang and instead, we pushed on to go straight to causeway and back...!!!

this sums up bout the whole 16 days for me...and of cos dere are so many little things that contributed too...jus that it will be too draggy to put them down into words...i will jus list them out in chronological order....

i sincerely wished that everyone enjoyed this journey which i did...

and somethin in one way or another hav changed for the better in everyone...

YOOOHOOOO...we got Carling Cup...!!! might be the start of something WONDERFUL...!!

gg bac HTA in bout few hours time...very very reluctant...HAIZ....life goes on...i will miss all the wkdays supper and MJ sessions....!!!

and WORSE still...i got tons of stuff tt i haven do yet for ASP Teoh....DAMN...!

wish me luck for my CPC EXAM...!!

attachment to Hougang NPC is really fun n EYE OPENIN...!!! hahas...fri will b my last day shift and i had my last nite shift ystd....lots happened ard the Hougang neighbourhood...credits to those men in blue...!!!

was readin at my last post regardin liverpool...and i guess time really tell everyting...they were on top and everytin since tt last post and now tables had turned...but still i guess they were still go on strong tonite against real madrid...pretty nice matchup...

anyway...manu acheivements so far has really made mi proud...on the route to a QUINTAPLE...a new word man...5 trophies and tht is not includin the WORLD CLUB champ...it will really b a bonus if they managed this feat...if not i will jus be contented retaining the league crown and champs league...one more league crown to match the 18 times record of liverpool and their fans can stop hoggin bout tt 18 times to mi whenever they ran out of stuff to commend on their own club...hehees

ILOVE MY LIFE now...!!! but its gona end in a few daes time and i will find myself bac in the bunk of HTA....

found myself cheerin for liverpool on sundae vs chelsea and wala...they won..and the unbeaten home record at chelsea is broken...GREATo...lols...

wundnt care too much if manu had won at goodison park on sat...despite liverpool victory, i m still wary of chelsea's capabilities to chase for the title...many wuld say liverpool is lookin gd this season...but i tink otherwise..they have looked good too many times b4 but they are still searchin for the crown since 19years ago....i still tink its gona b a chelsea manu title race this season...

dropped points at everton kinda sucks but they deserved to get a point after performin so well at home (only at 2nd half)...hopefully we get max points when west ham and hull visit us...

tt shall be it...and im so happy tt this week's schedule look too gd to b true...gona walk on at 1230 this fri!!! shiok like wat...!!

just finished the seniors' farewell dinner...guess everytin went well...dinner was great...had fun and of cos the pictures slideshow is emo...lols...

after everytin ended, they elected a single society president to succeed the senior post...LOL...tt was hilarious...and after tt is the 'unofficial' welcoming of the 2 upgraders...lol...since they din gone thru the army life in tekong, they were made to hav camo on...lols..and den used the saf talcrum powder on them and lastly, 2 large pails of water as the toppin...lols..

was really fun...can see ourselves 5 more months down the road doin all these things..passing down the tradition i guess...hahahas...

and a wkend zoomed past..bac in HTA once again...

a busy week ahead wif the seniors' pop n farewell dinner...my publication works deadline...the signages and banner...tink prob gotta use all the time to finish them up...

come to think of it...life as an OCT aint tt bad after all..putting aside the drill lessons and PT, its jus all bout events and academic lessons..and tt is very similar to my poly life...LOL...although i aim to do better den poly...ha

its hard keepin awake in class esp after PT conducted by KN...always dozin off at the later parts..

slpin soon...guess tts it for now...hopefully i wun hav mondae blues tml...

was goin thru my archives and realised that 2 years are really a long time ago...so much had happened between now n then...the post dated 2 jan 2008 caught my attention as its regarding my '08 resolutions. guess i might as well do an assessment on it...LOL...

my resolutions were

1) start saVING UP a significant amount of money....!!
2) cut down on late nites....
3) spend more time with my family...
4) enrich myself with useful lifeskills...

i m still not fufillin my 1 entirely...i guess the significant amount will always seems insignificant..

lates nites seem to be on the rise...might bcos of the fact that i only hav my wkends out...and most of the times i dun slp enuff during wkends..

3 has always been the hardest...will try my best as always...

this is the one wich i tink i did pretty well...considerin the fact that i m currently studyin law...wat can b more useful den havin a sturdy knowledge of laws at the back of ur head? hehes

a couple more months b4 the end of '08...hope to acheive more and lookin forward to '09!!

Autobiography

My name is Neo Jun Wei Alven and I am born on the wee morning of 19th February 1988. It’s been twenty years since I arrived on Earth. Through my autobiography, I hope to portray a better picture of myself and also share my life experiences.

I have 5 family members. They consist of my parents and 2 sisters. I am the only son and stuck in the midst of 2 sisters. My parents came from families with strong teachings and see to that their children do so too. My father works as a driver transporting goods while my mum works as a childcare teacher. Both of them worked very hard in order for my siblings and I to have the proper education we need. We are very thankful to them and hoped that we can soon allow them to have a taste of their fruits of labor.

My elder sister is 22 years old this year and is working as a childcare supervisor. She is someone whom I looked up to. A very independent woman who relies on herself to carve a niche in her career. She is someone whom I always turn to when I encounters problems in my life. She has helped me on several occasions when I needed aid.

My younger sister on the other hand is 19 years old and has just completed her A’ levels a year ago. She has taken on the SAF Women Merit scholarship and has embarked in a whole new career path shortly after she graduated from her junior college. She is one year into army life and is commissioning early next year to get her rank. She will pursue her degree after that. I have always been proud of my little sister as she had been the high flyer in the family. She is a very determined person and strives her hardest to get to where she wanted.

I shall start on my life now that I had introduced my family members. I have always been the active kid in my family. Never was I able to settle down as a kid. Since nursery, even up till now, I have always been known as the outgoing child from the class, never shy to make friends.

As I proceeded to primary school, I was the better academics performer in the class. I had my many ‘firsts’ in my primary school days. I topped my class for the last 3 years in primary school despite that I also discovered my talent in sports and was able to play all kinds of sports. But like the saying goes, “Jack of all trades, master of none.” So in secondary school, I specialized in basketball and made it into the school team where I met one of the most important people of my life, my coach. He was a hard and tough man who had taught me more than just basketball. He is probably the reason why I am the man I am now.

During the 4 years in school, I put in a lot of time into playing basketball for the school, and my academic results plummeted. Being a teenager at that time, nothing seems more important than spending time doing the stuff you loved best. Even my parents were helpless when it comes to persuading me to study. Bet everyone goes through the delinquent stage.

My coach was the one who brought me to my senses and lets just say I became a better student and had a pretty good result for my O’ levels. At the same time, I began to mature and started understanding the way of life. Slowly I began to appreciate my parents’ efforts in raising me and also cherishing all the good things in life.

I pursued a Diploma in Biotechnology in Singapore Polytechnic after my O’ levels. The 3 years are probably the highlights of my life till now. I was exposed to a lot of management experience and varsity life during the 3 years. I was not the high flyer academic wise but was involved in a lot of organizing of the school’s major events.

I was drafted into Chemical & Life Sciences School’s management committee and was appointed the Sports Head. I was given this chance after I contributed in organizing a successful orientation camp. This opportunity also forced me onto a crossroad where I had to make a choice between my Poly basketball team and the committee. I chose the life as a committee member. I more or less gave up the sport that had played an important part of my life, but I never regretted the decision.

I had the chance to understand how budgeting an event is like, how to rally helpers, how to work under pressure and so much more. I enjoyed many fun experiences during my time as the school’s committee member.

Time as a student passed very quickly and soon I received the letter from National Service reminding me of my enlistment date. Enlistment was a big thing for me as many of my uncles and friends had shared their experience with me. My younger sister also included. I told myself then that I would make the most out of my NS years.

As I passed out from Tekong BMTC, I was expecting either Cispec or OCS course waiting for me but alas, I was posted to OCT. I had no idea what it was all about and did not know what to expect from it. 3 weeks into the course now and I am slowly starting to appreciate how things work in HTA.

Never will I be able to experience outfield and all the others army related things; nonetheless, I will still put in my utmost effort in OCT to show my worth. Looking forward to the day where I pass out from HTA as a police inspector, and in the process, learn more life skills and absorb more experiences to allow me to become a better person.

wow...the last time i checked, i had an active blog...LOL...

now i gotta bring some life bac here....guess NS life reali do kills some things in ur life...hahahs...tekong life cuts u from the outside world...now that i m posted to Home Team Academy (HTA), i guess i will hav more opportunities to maintain my blog...and perhaps come out wif more ideologies?

first post since i started my NS life...guess nothin much bout me changed...mayb jus that now i got less time to myself...still relatively better den those in OCS...hahs...

jus wondering wat to post other den all these crap talk...HMMMmm...

u noe...under the official secrecy act, i cant really reveal too much of my life in HTA...so i guess i gotta bcareful bout wat i write...lol...

i m currently onto law...basic stuff for any police officers...a subject that has always invoke my interests since i loved to read crime thrillers..still got lots to learn and of cos it will definitely help mi in my life as knowing law is equivalent to equippin myself with a lethal weapon...hehes...

life's good so far...hope to share more...

tink i shuld call elroy and see if he has time to chat in tekong...particularly in NINJA coy...LOL

its a cold cold early MOrnin....i m at dee hse and we are gettin rdy for batam trip in bout an hour time....hope to hav fun....!

a very famous chinese photographer was having a photoshoot wif a beautiful russian model...

despite of the language barrier, he tried to communicate wif the model in english during the shoot...but...the russian model left angrily after he said something to her...and he was left puzzled....

he wanted to say,"open your eyes and smile..."

BUT it sounded like this when he said it out....

"open your ass and smell"

WOoooo....haven been able to update...too tired when i come home after work....laziness too...lols....

anyway...has reali been immersing myself 100% into my work...the butterfly garden is progressing very well...although a couple of bad days have delayed the work....will upload the pictures when i get them from vick....hope to finish the garden by nxt week...so we can at least start on the 1st batch of butterflies....

ever since i started workin....found it hard to find time to allow myself to indulge in fun activities...still the satisfaction from work compensated it i guess....jus hope things can continue to run smoothly....!!!!!!!
